Since we described our trip to the Channel Islands as a shooting tour we thought we'd better get on and do some shooting! The team awoke to an early start and after a wuick breakfast headed to the range, Despite the island being rather small, we still managed to find some morning rush hour traffic and get slightly lost en route, meaning a slightly delayed start to the shooting.
For the last several days we had all been eagerly checking the weather forecast and we were quite happy with the predicted sushine. However, as should be expected the weather man lied! It was a grey start, so much so that for the shooters on the first detail at 300 yards the target was barely visible. It was a case of:
"There looks like a slightly darker grey patch on that grey patch - that must be the target"
It did get a little brighter, but then the mist returned once again at 600 yards so it was definitely an interesting shoot for some.
There good were some good results overall, with Brendan Heatley top-scoring for the NRA with a 149.13, which was still not good enough to beat Peter Jory's 150, however it did earn him a chocolate coin.
Today's shoot was primarily a warm-up with the 500 yard score counting towards tomorrow's competition.
