Adam Leech

About him

Adam’s background, by education and early employment are in the engineering field. Having graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2001 as BEng(Hons) in Electronic Engineering he started work in defence engineering with Alenia Marconi Systems, part of the British Aerospace group. In 2005 he moved from supporting uniformed services to working in one, joining Hampshire Constabulary where he currently serves as a Roads Policing officer. Outside shooting, Adam is often……shooting, adding smallbore rifle, clay pigeon and rough shooting to his repertoire. With his interest in the engineering and practical world, carpentry and fixing/tinkering with most things mechanical & electrical also occupy his time, as does DIY and DIFEE (Doing It For Everyone Else). He currently lives in north Hampshire with his (very shooting-tolerant) partner Susie and a collection of belligerent cats & dogs!

Shooting experience

Adam started shooting with the Hampshire & IOW Army Cadet Force though, being a service-rifle orientated force, only took up target rifle at the University of Nottingham in 1997 where he progressed as a club shot and was Rifle Captain in 2000-01. After graduation Adam continued shooting with Pumas RC and Hampshire RA, as well as in the BAE SYSTEMS Inter-Factory Competition (enjoying the free ammunition provided by RG!), Police Sport UK and regular entries to the Imperial Meeting. Having joined the North London RC in 2013, Adam gained his first touring experience in 2014 as the club sent a team to the Spirit Of America match in Raton, NM. Successes of note include as a member of Hampshire’s winning team for the King George V final in 2014 and on several occasions, holding the Swanston Trophy for the NRA 100, shooting 3 Positions with a Target Rifle.

What he's hoping to achieve on this tour

Adam was well & truly bitten by the touring bug after shooting in the US and the Channel Islands tour will no doubt give him his ‘fix’ for 2015, as well as building experience on a tour which is widely regarded as the ideal stepping stone towards national and GB representation. He therefore naturally hopes to progress in terms of individual and team shooting, in addition to making a number of new friends, within both the team & opposition, along the way.
